The outer ring represents the application layer, these is what the user sees on the screen consisting of menus, tables, forms, pictures, etc.
The middle ring represents application software, with which the application were build. Data can be stored in this layer. This is normally on personal or group level.
The inner circle is the data container. For most companies this
will be ORACLE. However, other containers are also possible. With the help of
the programmable gateway, other database or document system can be the data
container.
